Tinku here, and I’m going to teach you how to start blogging right now. Since 2019, I’ve been creating blogs and websites.
During that period, I established many of my own blogs and assisted hundreds of others in doing the same.

So, whether you’re eight or eighty-eight, you can create your own blog in less than twenty minutes, regardless of your age.
I’m not embarrassed to confess that I made a lot of errors when I initially started learning how to create a blog.
You may learn from my more than a decade of experience so that you don’t make the same errors when creating your own site. This free tutorial was designed to help a complete novice learn how to blog fast and simply.
So, how do you get started with a blog?
Follow these instructions to learn how to create a blog in approximately 20 minutes:
- How to Begin a Blog in 6 Easy Steps

- Get your blog up and running. Get your blog registered and hosted.
- Personalize your blog. Pick a free blog design template and customize it.

Is it a good idea to start a blog?
One of the common misunderstandings about beginning a blog is that you must be a fantastic writer in order to be successful.
That couldn’t be further from the truth. People read blogs to get a personal viewpoint on issues, therefore most bloggers write in a fairly casual and conversational manner.
Because of the structure, many successful bloggers will cover a wide range of subjects on the same site. Furthermore, in order to have a successful blog, you do not need to be an expert on any of the subjects you write about.
Visitors to a culinary blog, for example, do not want to read a textbook written by a food scientist; rather, they want to hear about the experiences of someone who has really prepared some real meals, errors and all.
To be a good blogger, you really only need one thing: a love for your subject.
Blogging is really about sharing your expertise with the rest of the world. Writing about topics that you are passionate about simplifies the process of establishing a successful blog.
As long as you write about topics that you really care about, your enthusiasm will show through and keep your readers engaged.
So why would you bother with blogging? There are many causes for this:
- Tell us about your experience. A blog enables you to express yourself and be heard. If you like, you may tell your tale to the whole world. One of the most popular uses of blogs is as a diary, in which the blogger writes about their everyday experiences so that friends, family, and others may all be a part of their life.
- Earn a living from home. If done properly, blogging may be very profitable. The world’s best bloggers clearly make a lot of money, but even a part-time blogger may expect to make a good profit if everything is done properly. The greatest thing is that blogging is a kind of passive income since you may spend only a few hours a week producing a piece of content and then benefit from it long after you’ve done writing it. Later in this book, I go into much more depth on how to blog for money.
- Appreciation for yourself or your company. No, you won’t have paparazzi following you around because of your most recent post. A successful blog, on the other hand, turns your concept into a reality and may help you acquire a lot of notoriety in your industry. Many bloggers have become recognized as experts solely because of their blogs, and some have even landed book and film agreements as a result of their blogs.
- Locate a community. At its core, blogging is an interactive medium. You make a post, and others respond to it. This is a great method to meet individuals who are interested in the same topics you are. Blogging enables you to educate these individuals based on your expertise while also allowing you to learn from your followers.

Step 1: Choose a blog name.
If you’re not sure what to call your blog or what to write about, move along to the next step.
If you already have a name in mind for your blog, you may check to see if it hasn’t already been registered.
If you discover that the name you want has already been taken, you have a few options. Consider using a different domain extension. If the.com version of the name has already been registered, you may still be able to get the.net or.org version.
Add some tiny words. Words like “a,” “mY,” “best,” and “the”
How to Pick a Blog Topic and Name
If you don’t already have a name for your blog, the first step is to decide on a subject. There are a few methods to discover a decent blog subject if you don’t know what to write about:
- Experiences in life Everyone has life lessons they’ve picked up along the way. Sharing this information may be very beneficial to others who are in similar circumstances.
For example, I recently assisted a lady in starting her blog on being a firefighter’s wife. She has a lot of expertise and information about this subject to share with others, and it has helped her connect with people in similar circumstances. - Consider the experiences you’ve been through in your life. This may be about your family (for example, a blog about being a stay-at-home parent), job (for example, a blog about dealing with customers), or other life events (a blog about dealing with a troubling time such as a disease or divorce, or about a happy time such as preparing for a wedding or a birth of a child).
- A blog for personal use. A personal blog is a blog that is all about you. This will cover a wide range of subjects, from everyday activities to odd ideas and musings. This is an excellent method to share your ideas with the rest of the world without being limited to a single subject.
- Hobbies and interests Hobbies or other hobbies in which you have a strong interest are a good place to start. Classic examples are cooking, travel, fashion, athletics, and automobiles. However, blogging about unusual interests may be effective since your audience is practically anybody in the world who has access to the internet.
Once you’ve decided on a subject, it’s time to select a blog name, also known as a domain name.
A good blog name should be descriptive enough that prospective readers can determine what your site is about simply by looking at the name.
If you are writing about a particular subject, you should absolutely incorporate it in some manner while choosing a domain name.
But try not to become too focused on a single word. A food blog, for example, does not have to include the term “cooking.” The terms “food,” “recipes,” and “meals” would further indicate that your site is about cooking.
If you want to start a personal blog where you will cover a range of subjects, I suggest using your name, or a variant of it, since your blog will be all about you. For example, I am the owner of the blog bloggingzoo.com. If your given name is already in use, you may add your middle name or initials.
Once you’ve decided on a name, you’ll need to choose a domain extension.
The most common domain extension is.com, but.net and.org are also acceptable. It is also essential to remember that there may be no gaps between words in a blog domain.
Step 2: Launch your blog.
Now that you’ve decided on a name for your blog, it’s time to get it online. This may seem difficult or complex, but the instructions below will guide you through the process and make it simple.
Simple steps to help you quickly start a blog
You’ll need two things to get your blog up and running: blog hosting (also known as web hosting) and blogging software. The good news is that they are usually sold together.
A blog host is a business that keeps all of your blog’s files and distributes them to users when they put in your blog’s name. To have a blog, you must have a blog host.
You will also need software to create your blog. In this tutorial, I’ll teach you how to create a blog using the WordPress blogging software, which is the most popular, flexible, and simple to use.
BlueHost is the web host I suggest and demonstrate how to use in this tutorial. I personally use BlueHost and suggest them to all new bloggers for the following reasons:
- They will register your unique domain name for free, ensuring that it is not taken by anybody else.
- If you are dissatisfied for any reason, they will refund your money within 30 days.
- They provide a free, automated WordPress blogging software installation (which I show you how to use in this guide).
- Since 2005, they have provided dependable web hosting that has been recommended by WordPress, and they now host over 2 million blogs and websites.
- They provide excellent customer support through phone or online chat 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
1. To receive the special $2.75 per month BlueHost pricing, go here and then click “get started today.“
2. Choose a strategy. I suggest that new bloggers start with the basic plan. To select your plan, click “Select.”
3. To begin the registration procedure, type your domain name in the left-field and then click “next.”
- If you already have a domain name and wish to utilize it for your blog, enter it in the appropriate box and then click “next.” Use the correct box only if you have already paid to register a domain!
5. You must also choose your hosting plan and settings.
Every BlueHost account plan includes everything you need to get your blog up and running, such as a free custom domain name, simple WordPress installation, web hosting, and custom email addresses (for example, yourname@yourdomain.com).
The 36-month plan offers the lowest monthly rate, but the 12-month option has a cheaper initial cost.
Except for “Domain Privacy & Protection,” I uncheck the boxes next to the package extras. Domain privacy, although not absolutely required, keeps your personal information (name, address, phone number, and email address) concealed from the public database of registered domain owners.
6. After that, you’ll need to set up your BlueHost account and password.
When you do this, you will be sent to an installation assistant. Because you are following along with this guide, you can simply click “Skip this step” on the next pages to be brought straight to the dashboard.
7. Install the blogging platform WordPress.
The system will now automatically install WordPress. Once the installation is complete, click the blue “WordPress” icon to access your blog’s administration section.
Step 3: Customize your blog
Signing in
If you haven’t already signed in from the previous step, go to Bluehost.com and click “Login” in the top right to get the login page.
After that, you may log in using your domain name and the password you created in the previous step. If you have forgotten your password, click the “Forgot Password” link to reset it.
After logging in, you will be sent to your BlueHost Portal. From the gateway, click the blue “WordPress” icon to be immediately signed in to your WordPress blog.
Changing the look of your blog
You will be sent to the WordPress dashboard after you have logged in. This is where you may make any modifications to your blog that you wish.
Everyone has a distinct vision for how their blog should appear. One of the best features of WordPress is the ability to alter your whole layout and style with just a few clicks.
Blog layouts are referred to as “Themes” in WordPress. What exactly is a blog theme? Themes are in charge of the overall appearance of your WordPress blog. To change your theme, go to the left menu and choose the “Appearance” option.
You’ll see that many free WordPress themes have already been installed on your blog: Twenty Seventeen, Twenty Sixteen, and so on. These are attractive, well-designed themes that may be used for almost any kind of blog. Many of the world’s top bloggers, in fact, utilize one of these themes.
Unless you have a very particular design in mind for your site, I recommend starting with one of these themes. Let’s use the “Twenty Twenty One” WordPress theme as an example. Hover over the theme and click the “Activate” button to activate it on your blog. That’s all! With a single click, you’ve altered the whole look of your site!
If you don’t like any of the pre-installed themes, you can simply switch to one of the hundreds of different free WordPress themes. To install a new WordPress theme, go to the left menu and choose “Appearance,” then “Add New Theme.”
This is the theme search page for WordPress. There are literally hundreds of different themes to select from. You may easily alter your whole look by activating a new WordPress theme at any moment. To discover a theme you like, go to the “Popular” page and start exploring. When you’ve found the one you like, click the blue “Install” button.
Step 4: How to create and submit a new blog post
Now that your blog is up and running, it’s time to start blogging! Let’s get started creating your first piece of content.
- Go to the left menu and choose “Posts.”
- You’ll see there’s already a post there. This is a standard post that appears on every new WordPress site, and we don’t need it.
- To remove it, click the “Trash” button right below the post.
- Click the “Add New” button to begin creating a new post.
- You’ve arrived at the post editor’s interface. Enter your post’s title in the top box, and then begin writing your article in the bottom area.
- If you want to add an image to your post, click the “Add Image” button and then “Upload” to choose a file from your computer.
- On the next screen, you may change the size of the image. When you’re finished, click “Insert into post” to insert the image.
- Once you’ve completed your post, click the “Publish” button in the upper right corner of the screen to publish it.
Content You Should Include on Your Blog
Your blog should offer two kinds of material: static content and dynamic content.
Static Content: Your blog should include a few pages that are specifically intended to give the visitor the tools they need. The information on these pages is static, which means that it does not change often, if at all. These are mostly top-level pages that may be accessed through your blog’s menu.
These static content pages should be in place before you publish your blog to the rest of the world.
Include the following static pages:
About Us (Me) – A biographical description of the author(s), as well as a mission statement, should be included on this page. Consider the responses to the following questions: How did your interest in the topic grow? What message do you wish to send to the rest of the world? What is your long-term goal?
Contact Me (Us) – A contact page gives the visitor a way to contact the author, which gives the visitor confidence that you are a genuine and accessible author. You may provide your physical address, phone number, and email address. To keep your personally identifying information secret, you may use a basic contact form. You should also provide links to all of your social media accounts here.
Aside from your blog, which is usually launched on the home/main page, these two crucial sites should be accessible and simple to reach on your top (header) menu. You can see how I have these sites incorporated in the header menu at the top of this page.
Other static pages that are as essential but are less frequently considered include:
Disclaimer Page: If you want to monetize your blog, you must explain how you plan to make money. According to FTC rules, this is an essential must-have page that should not be ignored. For example, if you are discussing and promoting a product and stand to benefit by connecting to the product, you must declare this connection.
Privacy Policy: Whether you collect data from your visitors in any manner, you must have a privacy policy page that informs visitors about how you gather data, how you use it, and if you share that data.
A Privacy Policy is required if you utilize Google Adsense or a Google Analytics account on your site. The CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act) and the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) both require this page, which is provided by default on your WordPress blog.
Terms of Service: If your blog also operates a shop or sells services, a Terms of Service page is a smart idea to reduce your possible responsibility.
These necessary static sites are usually linked to in a blog’s footer menu. They should be visible and accessible from the main page at the very least. Again, scroll down to the bottom of this page to see how this works in practice.
Other static pages may be included if they are appropriate for your blog and company. An advertising page to solicit paid ads, a contributions page, a resource page to guide visitors to your favorite sites within your profession, and a page for contributing ideas and material are all examples of static pages.
Dynamic Content: Your blog is your dynamic material, and it is the most essential content you have to provide. This is where you, as the creator, will inject your brand of educational material into the blog, providing your readers with informed advice, facts, views, and tales. This is how you keep your visitors interested and coming back for more.
Your blog material should be updated at regular intervals. Waiting months to produce content will never result in a growing audience. Posting content on a weekly basis and generating traffic to these articles will aid in the development of your brand.
How to Create Outstanding Blog Content
Each post should be detailed, educational, and entertaining. It may be difficult to come up with fresh blog post ideas on a regular basis, and you are free to vary the tone and even the topic matter to keep things alive and intriguing.
After all, it’s your place. However, there are a few characteristics that every piece of material should strive to contain.
Define the Content: Create an enticing post title that piques readers’ interest and encourages them to click. Use the opening paragraph of your post to clearly describe your article’s subject and to offer a potential hook to keep the reader reading.
The more information and detail you provide, the better. Visitors, on the other hand, will begin to scan if the material includes lengthy paragraphs a mile long, and they will exit quicker than they came in. Tidbits are popular with visitors. Use short paragraphs with spaces between them, lists and prominent quotes, pictures, and always include headers and sub-headings to help visitors discover what they’re searching for.
Engage Your Reader: At the conclusion of each article, a popular technique for engaging visitors is to provide a relevant question to your audience and encourage them to respond in the comments. This simple approach has the potential to boost engagement tenfold.
Originality: Your material should constantly be unique. Never plagiarise – you will be found out about it and may suffer repercussions. Your material should be derived from your heart, intellect, knowledge base, and experience. You may obtain subject ideas from people in your industry, but the content must be your own.
While it is simple to use stock pictures from free image sources, it is much preferable to include your own photographs and graphic work. Another option is to use free pictures and modify them using a free photo editor.
Edit Your Work: Your blog’s material should be well-edited. Nothing screams unprofessionalism like a slew of typos and grammatical mistakes. Consider utilizing a writing program if you require a few grammar refresher lessons.
Step 5: Spread the word about your blog.
Creating a well-designed blog and producing excellent content is just the beginning. You will need to invest some time marketing your blog in order to attract readers, particularly when you initially start.
The methods listed below can assist you in getting your blog in front of more readers. You don’t have to utilize every technique; test a couple and discover which ones work best for you.
Comment on Other People’s Blogs
Find and interact with other blogs in your neighborhood. Introduce yourself in the comment area and make interesting and helpful remarks. Many sites will let you post a link to your blog. After building connections with notable bloggers in your neighborhood, you will soon find yourself among their ranks.
Interact with Your Visitors
Engage with your readers whenever they make comments on your articles. Respond to their comments and queries, and show them your appreciation with “likes” and affirmations. Visitors are naturally motivated to return when it is clear that the author cares about his or her community and audience.
Join forces with other bloggers.
Collaborate with renowned people of your profession to get more involved in your blogging community. Guest blogging, supporting one other’s blogs and goods, and frequently engaging via comments and social media are all examples of collaboration.
Post on a regular basis
Post new material on a regular basis. Make and stick to an editorial calendar. To begin, a good blogger should publish at least once each week. Your following will drop off if you have lengthy gaps between postings, and your development will be greatly hindered. It’s not simple to publish on a regular basis, but it’s something you must do.
Make your blog search engine friendly.
You want your blog to appear as quickly as possible in search results.
Google: Create a Google Webmaster account and access the Search Console. To add your blog, click “Add Property” and follow the on-screen instructions.
Bing: Create a Bing Webmaster account and add your blog to it.
Submitting your blog is the first step in the search engine optimization procedure (SEO).
Keep in mind that your traffic will be low at first with a fresh blog. However, as long as you continue to provide useful and relevant material on a regular basis, this will alter with time.
Make money from your blog in step six.
Making money from your blog is really the easiest part after you’ve put in the work of producing excellent blog material and marketing your site.
Blogs have the potential to be very profitable but don’t expect to start earning money in the first week, or even the first month. It may take six months to a year to see a consistent stream of revenue. Blogging requires time and effort, but if you have a big enough following, there are many ways to monetize your blog.
Offer advertising space for sale
Advertisers will be hounding you for the chance to promote once you have a popular blog. The most effective method to capitalize on this scenario is to utilize Google Adsense. Google selects the advertisers for you, and all you have to do to start running advertisements is put the Google Adsense code on your site. Google Adsense removes all of the hard work from the process and just pays you a check.
Promote affiliate goods.
An affiliate program is a method of advertising that pays a commission. When a reader clicks on a link on your blog, they are sent to an advertiser’s website, and you receive a commission if they make a purchase. Affiliate links are a good way to make money by reviewing products. However, keep in mind that you must declare that you are an affiliate of the product.
Offering Goods and Services
Selling your own goods and services directly via your blog is an excellent method to supplement your income. Your goods and services will begin to market themselves as your blog develops and attracts a larger audience.
Use graphic pictures and a link to your shop page in your blog’s sidebar to enhance the exposure of what you offer.
Offer digital downloads for sale.
The most popular digital products offered by bloggers are ebooks, video tutorials, and e-courses. You can keep the price cheap and attractive by having minimal to no overhead and no delivery expenses.
An ebook can almost write itself if you are very educated in your subject. Give it a try; you may be surprised!
Memberships may be sold.
Another method to monetize your blog is to provide membership alternatives. This enables you to provide members with an additional unique material that is only accessible with a premium membership. For example, you may provide limitless digital products downloads, free consultations, a secret network or forum where community members can mix and mingle, and private material accessible only to members.
There are many methods for a blog to profit from its success and visitors. The method you choose to monetize your blog is determined by your objectives and the purpose of your site. Those that offer services, physical products, or digital goods, for example, may not want to engage in affiliate programs because traffic maybe diverted to a competing site.
